|
New Years resolutions aren't such a big deal to me really. I am always trying to improve myself anyways, and I find that making "should" rules is only a temporary fix for deeper problems that require intervention at the cause level, not the effect level. Besides, I prefer to do my self inventory on my birthday -- it's more personal that way.
Having said that, I am working on several different projects right now that I am, today, making a commitment to myself to step up my efforts on.
Project 1 - my business. i could write pages on this project, being that it is a very complicated one. my biggest problem right now is the fact that i honestly have no clue what i am supposed to be doing. i've never started a legitimate business. i am not a detail oriented person and setting up things like procedures for money and filing legal forms sounds like less fun than slamming my fingers in a door. what i really need is someone who has been there to help me, but every business counseling thing i go to is completely alienating and set up for the typical business person. i guess my goal here is to force myself to sit down and learn some new things about business and make some new connections with people who are in business. it's hard to find a mentor given the social connections i have, but meeting new people hasn't ever been a problem for me. this is me telling myself to get my ass in gear so i can finally live my dream.
Project 2 - my home. bert is moving out this week. jacob is still here, but he is easy going and we get along well for the most part. we are going to split the extra rent for brett's bedroom and put the bowflex and other fitness stuff in there and my ebay stuff in there. that way i can finally, for once in my life have a bedroom that is strictly for sleep, hanging out and, well, you know...the other things i do in my bedroom. things will be so much more organized and relaxed around here. i'm pumped! also, i seriously need a better system for paying (or not paying as it has been lately) my bills. its not even that i don't have the money. i think i really hate giving my money away. all i have to do is write the check and send it in, but they stack up in piles and then i end up with late fees. that is probably one of the dumbest things i do, and i really need to work on it.
Project 3 - my body. my physical health has been coming last lately which is just dumb because being physically unhealthy interferes with me working on all of my other projects. me and leah and melissa and ashley and any other girls who want are going to work out together on a regular basis. it will be nice to have the encouragement and obligation of other people to work out with. on that note, i took naked pictures of myself today. no, you can't see them, and no, they are not in any way shape or form sexy. they are for me personally to motivate myself. i've definately seen hotter days. :-) but, it's not all about the physical image. your body reflects the way you feel about yourself. i continually put taking care of myself last and i really need to work on figuring out why i do that and then take steps to correct it. this is not a "this year" goal, this is one that i will probably be working on for the rest of my life, as, i am sure it is tied to semi-permanent aspects of my personality.
Well, those definately aren't my only projects (you guys know me), but those are the three main ones that i am focusing on right now. if i can over the next few months make some serious progress in these three areas, i will be very happy with myself. of course, writing this entry is just the very beginning. anyone can talk about goals. what makes me different is that i will actually work to reach them. i will, because i love myself and i love you guys. :-)
oh, and just cause i dont ever want to forget this -- i caught on fire last night. :-) |

Ever seen that episode of King of the Hill where Peggy wins a Boggle tournament?? I know you guys are all gonna think I'm a nerd, but I seriously wanna do that. Boggle is one of my favorite games (next to DDR and Catchphrase) and my mom is the only person who ever wants to play. Are any of you guys secret Boggle players? Who wants to do a Boggle tournament over break?? Come on, you know it sounds fun!! ( I will also take offers for DDR and Catchphrase tournaments if that is more up your alley ;-). <3Jess |

I had something called Bach Flowers done today at school. Aparently I am about to enter in a relationship with someone who I've known in a past life who will know me better than anyone has. One of the remedies I was given to help me deal with it is supposed to make me more open to the idea of sharing my private self with this person. It freaked me out more than I would have expected.
My massage place is coming along nicely. It will be named Renew You with the slogan Massage for Everybody. I thought of that myself and am quite proud of it. Conrad is working on a logo that kicks all other logos' asses. I looked at carpet this last weekend and will be painting in the next week or two if my mysterious shoulder injury would heal up.
I don't really like writing in here anymore because I only write in it when I want to connect with someone without actually making a direct effort. I think that actually weakens my relationships. I'm becoming much more of a direct person over time. I like it.
I will use this now, however, as a personal record of my daily events. It will be free of flair, even though I am inherently driven to writing boring facts with unecessary wordiness and flair. My dad has done this for most of his adult life in notebooks and I kind of like the idea of having a fairly unbiased factual record of the significant events in my life.
Before I give up all biased rambling, I'd like to note the fact that as I always hoped when I was younger, I continue to have frequent realizations about myself and life even though I am growing older. This fact alone makes my life worthwhile and keeps my interest in even the mundane. |

Hey guys, remember a LOOOONNNGG time ago when I made this post: http://www.livejournal.com/users/computergeek/159181.html . Yea, well, I FINALLY have some free time to do it. LOL. So, here ya go. First come, first serve.

CHRISTOPHER JAMES: Our paths seldom cross, but when they do you always greet me with a smile. You have an excellent outlook on life and amazing fashion sense. (I should get some pointers on the latter part). You are one of those people who is naturally gifted at putting others at ease. This is an wonderfull trait that I hope you are aware of. I wish you the best on your adventures at your new home (which sounds beautiful, might I add).

CYRUS NEWBURN: Cy, you are a hottie. I know I tell you that from time to time, but I don't think you ever believe me. You also happen to be one of the most caring people I know. You have a lot of love for others and give of it freely. This is an awesome trait. You, like myself, are a dreamer. I consider this to be one of the most misunderstood blessings. Your vision and ability to entertain "out there" ideas should not go unnoticed. Hopefully someday we really can collaborate on some kind of sweet recreation center. I don't know where you've gone online since you deleted your name, but I hope I never lose touch with you.

DEANNA FROM ELJAY LAND: Your best trait is your amazing likeness to myself. Hehe, totally kidding. You have a heart of gold. This is evident from the fact that even if I comment right after you post, there are allready 2398508 posts from your plethora of friends. But, somehow, you don't allow this to go to your head - you are one of the most down to earth people I've "met." I enjoy reading about your adventures and misadventures and wish you the best in everything. You are Tyler are totally adorable too, btw.

DUSTY DAY: When we lived together you became like a brother to me, and now you are like family that lives far away. Your sense of adventure helped keep me sane during my Senior year and your ability to confide in me made me feel helpfull. I admire you for sticking in there are signing up for grad school. I am sure that someday I will be calling you Dr.Dusty Day. Whatever happens in your life I want you to know that you have a friend here in Canton who's pulling for you. And, don't think I've forgotten about the Goth club...we will make it happen.

BROOKE FROM PHI CLUB: My fellow "too philosophical for everyone at ISU loner". The fact that you are one of the (at most) 8 friends I made at ISU should say something. You are one of those people who refuses to get caught up in the "game". You realize that you only get one chance at live and use that fact to make intelligent decisions. I admire you for that. Plus you have an excellent tast in movies and music. And of course, your sarcastic comments helped balance out my overly optimistic ones. I regret that we never got to work out together and hope that I will get to see you again in the future. Maybe I can even talk you into taking a short road trip to cute, quite Canton for a weekend? I wish you the best with guys, school, and work.

NATHANIEL LOVE: I've known you since grade school and always considered you a friend. Though you don't realize it, you have great conversation skills. You have so much knowledge and so many interests and opinions that it is always a joy to chat. I know you've had a lot of trouble lately in your life, but I genuinely hope that things will work out for the best. You are very stubborn, and when used in the right way, this can be a powerfull trait (aka: dilligence). You are also smarter than you give yourself credit for and when you finally find your niche, I know you will take off like a rocket. Come visit my new house sometime and just sit and talk.

MINDY COLGLAZIER: I've known who you were for a long time, but the innovations of the internet have given me the opportunity to really get to know the wonderfull person that you are. You are creative and intelligent in so many ways. You are one of the few people in the world who is brave enough to question the status quo. I really respect that. You are a truly good person and it makes me so sad when I read about life being harsh to you. I really commiserate with your headaches and next time you come back to Canton, let me know cause I have learned several massage techniques that really help. I won't charge you and I can teach them to Devin if you want so he can help you when you get them. Believe me, I feel your pain.

MARCUS CLARK: As mean as you are to me when I see you, I never for a moment have regretted becoming your friend. You are among the short list of people who I can tell anything to (with the security of knowing it won't be repeated or judged). You are smarter than you give yourself credit for and have an amazing insight into other people. You are the kind of friend who I would do anything for and who even if we parted ways would always have a special place in my heart. I can't wait till you get home and I can actually lean on your shoulder and tell you all my troubles. Thanks for being such a great friend.
Well, folks, that's all I have time for today, but I will finish up the last few ASAP. :-) |
